Here's the full length version of Vision Quest. Shot in Spokane, Washington in 1983 but released in 1985, this is Madonna's first cameo in a feature length motion picture. She is credited as Club Singer. Madonna performs Gambler and Crazy For You. She recorded a third song, Warning Signs, that wasn't included on the soundtrack because David Geffen didn't want 3 songs from an artist on the soundtrack who wasn't on his Geffen label. Crazy For You became Madonna's second number one single on the Hot 100 Billboard singles chart after Like a Virgin. The success of Madonna and this song prompted distributors in certain parts of Europe to rename the film Crazy For You.

You've produced tracks on Madonna's new album. What was the most surprising thing about working with her?
The simplicity of the communication. The simplicity of the way we communicated on an organisation level. Recording those songs for that album was something that quickly became very natural and I think that really helped us to paint something interesting.

How involved is she in the recording process? Did you work very closely together?
She is as involved as you can be in the recording process. This was a very good and big surprise for me! I was assuming that she would spend only an hour or two in the studio per day and come and see where we were and say, "Ok I like this, I don't like that. I'll sing this. Bye!" And absolutely not... I mean we co-produced the track and it’s not just written on the credits "co-produced by Martin Solveig and Madonna", we literally co-produced the tracks. I mean, at some point she wanted to choose the sound of a snare drum or a synth and that kind of stuff. She was really in the session!

“IT’S REDUCTIVE.”

Those two words, uttered by Madonna, in response to ABC-TV’s Cynthia McFadden’s question about a Lady Gaga song, has “gone viral,” as they say.

Even better, when McFadden, who certainly knows what the word means, asked Madonna to define it, M coyly said, “Look it up!”

Apparently, a lot of people have. Now, I keep hearing the word, generally accompanied with a laugh and a reference to the pop icon. Madonna has taught us much over the years, now she’s revived a word rarely used. (Well, I’ve always said if Madonna hadn’t gone into music, she would have stayed in Michigan and become Miss Ciccone, the stern English teacher.)

It was this benign answer about Gaga that became part of the Elton John/ David Furnish’s attack on Madonna, after she won a Golden Globe for best original song on Sunday night. The song is titled “Masterpiece” from her coming film, “W.E.” (Elton’s effort was “Hello, Hello” from the flop animated movie “Gnomeo and Juliet.”) Aside from ripping Madonna’s song, the pair declared — on Twitter and Facebook — that Madonna’s “attack” on Gaga “shows how desperate she is.”

Goodness, I didn’t get that at all. Madonna has no inclination to trash Gaga. But she is certainly within her rights to imply, gently, that Lady G. has appropriated some aspects of her image, sound and message. Music critics were the first, in fact, to point out the similarities between Gaga’s “Born This Way” and M’s “Express Yourself.”

Elton John, who has been a star since 1970, feels he has earned the right to be perennially cranky and opinionated. Fine. And he does wonderful charity work.

But I think Madonna, who has been a star since 1983, has earned the right to answer a question honestly, from her point of view. Or to accept an award, if she wins one.

Elton has had a bee in his bonnet about Madonna for years. At various times he has criticized her singing, dancing, her right to be a star, even. She has rarely responded.

In this case, however, it is Elton who appears to be “desperate.” Back in the day, Madonna could be ungracious and careless in her remarks, but I never recall her attacking another performer in this manner, or publicly declaring she should have won an award instead of somebody else. (Perhaps she learned her lesson when, in the midst of a wave of positive reviews and publicity for “Evita” — and a Golden Globe win — she said she thought she deserved to be nominated for an Oscar, too. The Academy was not amused.)

The truth is, most of the public has never heard either Elton or Madonna’s song. Why carry on so?

Oh, “reductive?” It means something is the same, only less.

Madonna on Younger Men, Missing ‘Certain Things’ About Marriage

Notoriously private Madonna opened up about dating a man less than half her age in a rare interview — but not without a putting up a fight.

“Aren’t people tired of that subject?” she quipped to “Nightline” anchor Cynthia McFadden in an exclusive with ABC News.

Of course not.

It’s been three years since Madonna’s highly publicized divorce from British director Guy Richie, and the 53-year-old star has caught flack for dating younger men. Her current flame is 24-year-old French dancer Brahim Zaibat, but prior to that she dated Brazilian model Jesus Luz, now also 24.

“I didn’t choose to, you know, I didn’t, like, write down on a piece of paper I’m now going to have a relationship with a younger man,” Madonna told McFadden. “That’s just what happened. You see, that’s the romantic in me. I just met someone that I cared for, and this happened to be his age.”

But when asked what she found appealing about younger man, the Material Girl tried to shut down the line of questioning with, “I don’t feel comfortable with this conversation.”

McFadden pressed Madonna about her own experience with love, a central theme to the pop icon’s upcoming film, “W.E.,” which explores the relationship between commoner Wallis Simpson and Britain’s King Edward VIII.

Madonna revealed she wants a partner in life and that there were even “certain things” she missed about being married, such as “being a part of a family unit” and “not having to make all the decisions on my own.”

“I don’t want to live my life on my own,” she said. “I love being a mother. My children fill me up in many ways, and inspire me in many ways, but I need a partner in my life and I think most people feel that way. I’ve never really lived a conventional life, so I think it’s quite foolish for me or anyone else to start thinking that I am going to start making conventional choices.”

Putting family first, one of the most important things Madonna said she looks for in a partner is someone whom her two biological children, Lourdes, 15, and Rocco, 11, and her two adopted children, David Banda and Mercy James, both 6, will respect.

“Someone who feels a connection with my children and respects the idea that they have to be a role model as well,” Madonna said. “It’s a lot to live up to.”

As for her current relationship with Zaibat, Madonna claimed she is actually the low-maintenance “easy” one between the two of them.

“I go home and I wash my face and I put on my sweatpants and I lay down on the bed and I say, ‘oh, please rub my feet,’ and you know, he says, ‘no, you rub my feet,’” Madonna said. “So, you know, behind the curtain, I’m just like everybody else.”

In Fairytale Interrupted, a new book about John F. Kennedy Jr., it says he wanted Madonna to pose as his mother First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis for the cover of his magazine George in the summer of 1996. Madonna declined in true Madonna form.
