1990 Italian Vogue? Really? I thought it was a Sex shoot. Wow. I love these pics. They were used on the cover of Bad Girl and I'd never seen them before. Such a sexy icon.
I think it was inspired by one of Marilyn's poses, wasn't it? She did several Marilyn poses around this time -- in Vogue, Vanity Fair and a few other magazines. I know it preceded the Sex book by at least a year, if not more.
i do think the lips were borrowed, but the hair is hers... just teased up (way up). you know what they say, "the higher the hair, the closer to jesus"... lol love this shoot!

It's the February 1991 issue - but Pud's right, the photos are from 1990 (Feb 1991 Vogue Italia hit newstands in early Jan 1991).
I can still remember the day I bought this mag - almost DIED when I looked up and saw "MADONNA COME MARILYN" written on the front cover of Italian Vogue and the most gorgeous picture of Madonna on the cover. I grabbed it IMMEDIATELY and then had to go straight into a university lecture - I spent the entire lecture looking at the magazine and wishing I could understand Italian!!!
Fucking awesome those days were!!!
She is WELL DUE another Vogue Italia cover btw - the only other one she's had was November 1992. I suppose she did get L'Uomo Vogue cover in 2005 (Men's Italian Vogue) - but Vogue Italia is the dog's bollocks - it wipes the floor with all other Vogues from around the world.
