Madonna and Jonathan Ross 1992.
Madonna sat with Jonathan Ross in 1992 to promote her Erotica album and the Sex book. She touches on many subjects here. Her thoughts on AIDS, art, sex, fame, monogamy, and life. Her disgust with homophobia and ageism. Trailblazing through, at the pinnacle of the fame she implemented and today others aspire to, she had no qualms about speaking truth that could have been detrimental to her career but she didn't care. The Goddess spoke like no other before her. Never one to mince words, Madonna let it rip and as far as looks go, she was sock'n it, do'n it - eat your heart out, Marlene. The entire unedited interview can be viewed after the jump:

I miss Madonna. I saw the Sticky & Sweet tour on dvd a few days ago and it is absolutely the worst, most vapid and irrelevant show Madonna has ever done, and one of the worst I have see
ReplyDeleten.
Yes, I know the S6S tour is like the most succesful tour in the history of music, whatever, but that does not mean it's a good show, it is not. People wanted to see the Madonna who sang the hits that defined their youth and the Madonna who had balls and who spoke up for millions of people who felt didn't have a voice that represented them, and underneath that emmaciated, veiny, muscular 51 year old woman with a face that now looks like a bloated blowfish lies this Madonna we see on the Jonathan ross interview, so that's who they paid to see, but the show is dreadful.
God, I really miss her.
I haven't even seen those videos you posted, I don't want to because it's saddening. Such a beautiful face she used to have. I would have NEVER in a million years thought Madonna would have plastic surgery, at least not to her face.
ReplyDeleteI would say, no way, Madonna is too cool for that, and her face is too beautiful for that, sh doesn't need and she knows it. Well, lo and behold, Madonna is the new Cher. She is. She absolutely is, no matter how hard you try to deny it.
poor poor ramon. nobody went expecting to see a woman from 20 years ago. nobody that doesnt need a lobotomy, that is. seek help a.s.a.p.
ReplyDeleteLol, I don't need a lobotomy, and that is what you think and I respect that but you're wrong.
ReplyDeleteDo you think tha all of of those people that attented sticky & sweet, all of them bought hard candy?? lol, please. Not everyone is a sick fan who buys 2 or 3 copies of the same Madonna album, or spends 8 grand on seeing her 5 or 6 times, now those people need help.
Maybe you didn't understand what I meant, english is not my first language so maybe I'm not expressing myself properly.
ReplyDeleteWhat I meant is that, it's Madonna. I mean I hate what she has become but I'm not going to deny that she used to be such a grand influence in my life and that I adored her, and if she came to my country I would still pay to see her for the nostalgia factor, and I guess that's what's going on with her shows, she's now going to places that she never visited, so people are still going to go and enjoy it because it's Madonna, even if the show is dreadful and the music is totally half assed, and IT IS. MY god what a dreadful dreadful show, it's embarassing to see her sing songs like She's Not Me and you can tell in her dellusional mind she thinks that song is better than Papa Don't Preach or any other classic, it's so sad.
oh, wow, its worse than i thought. per per ramon really needs the frances farmer icepick method - and fast!!!
ReplyDeletefrances farmer didn't even get a lobotomy. You are so rotten.
ReplyDeletelobotomy gets them home! *POUNDS ICEPICK UNDERNEATH EYELID*
ReplyDeleteIn a way or another, ramon was right, SNS was her least glamourous show after drowned world tour. But i liked the reply of pud. Because that was a truth that nobody expected to see a young madonna. But musically, SNS was the best ever i think. So plz ramon speak the truth.... Learn to appreciate the good also.
ReplyDeleteDear Ramon ( and so many others),
ReplyDeleteDo you look the same way you did 20 years ago ?
Love this interview, I still have it on VHS:-)
ReplyDeleteIt's 50 minutes of pure Goddesses!
pheel - xo
ReplyDeletemadonnarules - its really one of her most fabulous interviews, isnt it?
@Pheel I'm 28, o 20 years ago I was 8 =/ I guess I don't look the same.
ReplyDeletewow! the negativity is insane! Pud, GR8 post as usual.. thnx and keep 'M commin!
ReplyDeletePud, I love you, but why can't someone speak their mind here without being considered as some sort of a retard?
ReplyDeleteRamon, I agree with you in some ways. SNS and HC were the most uninspired M projects to date. My heart sank when I first heard HC. I felt she wasn't present, as if she has so much going on in her life these days that music has become a means to an end rather than the essence of what she does.
I think we all felt that to some degree. Surely a conscientious (and honest) fan would sense a certain spirit lacking in her recent work. But I also think die-hard fans have invested so much in her that they are too proud to admit it.
I think there has been a compromise of sorts on her part, somewhere along the way, and that does sadden me a little. But I guess things change...
Evrybdygegeget, you're the real fan... You're speaking the truth, just like me;-)
ReplyDeletepheel... That was a good question i always wanted to ask!
Ramon... I liked your sense of humour:-)
@evrybdygegeget Everybody, the thing is that Pud is one of those people consumed by Madonna, or some idol of sorts. Of course he's going to deny it and make it sound ike oh he has such a great life and I'm a loser or whatever, like these people always do, but he is consumed.
ReplyDeleteLike every sect victim, or obsessed person with whatever topic or subject matter, he cannot stand or respect opposing views to his own, it's sad.
I love Madonna, I always will, but this current Madonna sucks, because I think for the first time in her life she is doing things just for the money, and the art has been thrown out the window. It is so sad, and some fans I guess don't want to accept it.
Having said that, Ramon, she is investing her money in charitable things. And 'Madonna the human cash register' is not a new concept. I just feel a shift away from the art of music, and that's the thing that bothers me.
ReplyDeleteyes, Madonna has always been a businesswoman but also an artist, but ever since confessions on a dance floor(with the exception of the confessions tour wich is a masterpiece), art seems to have gone out of the window, and she's focused on being number 1 and selling records only, it's sad.
