I remember looking through this cd booklet over and over and over again, fascinated by her beauty, the simplicity of the photos, the strangeness of the lyrics, the pretty small white font... it all seemed to immense, like an ocean. Which is what the background color of all these pictures always remind me of. An emerald ocean, surreal and pure. I know we all want different Madonnas to make a comeback, and so for me Spiritual Madonna is the one that fascinates me the most. Mer Girl and Swim changed the way I look at her forever. That entire CD did. I like the latter Mystical Madonna as well as the Oversexualized Madonna and the Bratty Madonna, but to me the most real, the one that contained them all, was the one that came out with Something to Remember and Ray of Light.
I read about this photo session. I heard Madonna wanted to end it before the photographer thought it was finished so he made her stay longer. Looks like it worked! Very simple but lots of high-energy which compliments the album. I bought the limited edition CD so all these appear in the booklet and it's got that great psychedelic texture as a cover which looks like a close-up of her shiny outfit. I hope she makes another album like this. Something unexpected, somewhat strange and futuristic.
"Ray of Light' is easily her most over-rated song and by FAR one of her worst. Can't stand all that cackling and screeching. Never liked the album until recently. This album was the first time I actually thought she was TRYING to be hip. Love most of the songs now. Beautiful time to be a fan, that's for sure.
i remember being 15/16 when i bought this album and looking at these photos and thinking "why is she wearing a see-through outfit? i thought she was trying to be taken seriously!" lol
the album is a masterpiece. that's all there is to it. the planets aligned.
Patterns... I was 28 and also flipped through the ROL photos and lyrics like there was no tomorrow... 14 years earlier I had fallen madly in love with Borderline, Burning Up, Lucky Star. And I now wonder, like the follow up to the 1991 Truth or Dare, I'm Going to Tell You a Secret (2005), what special celebration might M come up with for the 14th anniversary of ROL, in 2012?
i also remember buying the limited edition the day it came out and getting it home and being disappointed that i couldnt see the beautiful album cover, even after paying like $30! lol
i dunno. in the last pic she completely looks like her dad and there is very little airbrushing, which is nice. you can see her wrinkles around her eyes. i love it. beautiful pics.
After really studying these pics I now realize how imperfect Madonna's nose is. I think she's good-looking but if she got a nose-job she would be much prettier.
actually, madonna's nose is one of her nicest features that i have always loved. it's perfectly semetrical and beautiful. full of attitude, just like her. if she had a nose job, she would have no nose. it is already small and 'perfect'.
Thought you might appreciate this, it's something I made in Photoshop. :D

imperfect? you're on drugs. what's a perfect nose anyway? it suits her face perfectly imo.
