  1. Pud do you know albums back in the 80's only had a few pics inside? This would have been a good one to include with Like a Virgin. Maybe it's because more people bought records than cassettes back then and there was only room for the front and back covers.

True Blue only had one pic, which drove me nuts when I saw all the outtakes ala the internet years later.

She looks hot here. Loved that slutty virgin look.

  2. This is brilliant. She looks like gutter trash here, yet fabulous all the same. Sire must have thought this was too risque for the album at the time. It should have been included in the Virgin Tour program!

  3. Yeah Madonna just oozes sex here.I think it wasn't safe for an album booklet back then. The whole sexual-virgin mood was so natural and fascinating, you can't create that with photoshop and good lights. She was a natural from the beginning.

  4. Basically she's the only one who, when you look back at pictures of the 80ies, looks good in 80ies "fashion" and ditto hair. That's an accomplishment in itself.

  7. The photo shoot for the album must have been very scandalus for its time. I was too young to remember. I didn't understand the idea of the photo shoot until years later. When I bought the cd in high school. She's in white on the cover, showing she's a virgin on her wedding night. The other picture shows her in black with the covers undone. I can imagine people buying the record just for that cover.

    Pop history right there!

  8. something about the angle of this shot makes her look very tiny & frail

  9. Framed and hanging in my apt. One of several favorite images. @youthinkyourecute YES apparently the images shot for the virgin album were too scandalous for America at least. That's why the record sleeve was "flip flopped". If it was too much for a seriously fucked up record store to display the real album cover on their shelves, they were able to flip the album cover over and display the "less risque" Madonna with the newspaper shot. No boobs, rosaries or lurid gaze!

  10. @themadonnablog, it wasn't what she was wearing, it was the horrid hair and make-up lol. Eek!

    I know!!! lol

The whole world was going to see her. Like what was she thinking?

Her make-up looked like chalk was drawn on her face. The hair looked like a Dolly Parton windblown regect wig from the late 70's.

She looked sooo perfect at the UK Rock Hall of Fame back in 2004. Oh well..still have to give her props for trying new things.

Are you fucking kidding me?? The WORLD was about to see the arrival of one of the biggest icons of popular culture that ever was and ever will be. It was a revolutionary point in music history. So what was she thinking? Hmm, how about a Worldwide phenomenon that inspired millions of fans around the World to want to look like and be that chalky faced "Dolly Parton windblown regect wig from the 70's" girl. Madonna's presence, music and attitude is more substantial than anything that has crossed my path or yours since. I get that you must be a lot younger than me, but do some research if you must and understand what you are talking about. Sorry/and not for my rant.

    Cheers.
