William Orbit Scores Madonna's film W.E.

Critics may be sharpening their pens in anticipation of MADONNA’s directorial debut W.E. but I have good news for all you Material Girl fans.

The film, a biopic about King Edward VIII’s relationship with Wallis Simpson, features music by her Ray of Light collaborator WILLIAM ORBIT, who says it will be a massive HIT!

“I’ve watched the film several times and it’s really good. It’s definitely Oscar-worthy and I’m not just saying that,” he tells me.

  1. "...and I'm not just saying that". Er, yes you are. Since when was William Orbit the authority on what the Academy likes?

Will be interested to hear what he does but it's always a mistake to hype films in this way, especially a Madonna film.

  4. @Dontlookback,

why does somebody have to be "an authority on what the academy likes" to make that kind of statement? he could be right here, as the academy has, in the past, favored emotional, period pieces.

  11. I just hate it when people say films are 'Oscar-worthy'. They usually end up disappointing. And I was referring to Madonna's entire film career which was damaged by hype before the films came out only for them to bomb (remember Body of Evidence? Everyone said it was going to make her a movie star, and it didn't). Better for people to say it's Oscar worthy after it's been released. That's all! I'm still curious about what William Orbit will do.

  12. most of ray of lights credit goes to pat leonard. orbit threw in the wooshes and swirl sounds, but pat was the man, as usual.

orbit showed he didnt have many ideas with his tracks on Music.

  13. i was actually pleasantly surprised by "filth and wisdom." believe me when i say i put it in my DVD player expecting it to be complete shit. but, in my opinion, it was pretty good and quite solid for a debut movie. it definitely had some problems, but i thought for the most part, the acting, camera work, and script worked to madonna's advantage.

  14. oh, and would it be embarrassing to admit that i LOVE "body of evidence?" unintentionally campy, right? i mean, it's just filled with AMAZING lines like, "don't! stop! don't stop!"
