Haha, love the GIFs! @ Tony, I agree, Girlie Show is the only tour that I didn't bother to replace the VHS tape with the DVD. I did love the Drowned World Tour though.
I love the Girlie Show,it's almost my fave one.She was a fierce commander and her voice was really beautiful. Not to mention the bananas/isla bonita segment,I was crazy about her dance moves back then.
There were great moments on the Girlie Show, but the music didn't really do it for me. Erotica didn't work live (although it did at Confessions). I did love La Isla Bonita, but hated the 'yes sir, missus sir, yes sir' bit of Holiday. Justify My Love had a great ending, when she started belting out the vocals. The mix of Deeper & Deeper was horrible, but Why's It So Hard was fabulous. A mixed bag.
I liked the GS in retrospect. When it first aired I wasn't crazy about it but when I look back it, it did have some great moments. I imagine had I seen it live it would have been a whole different experience. I didn't care for the clown and certain songs didn't do it for me but it was still a visual and musical spectacular. Maybe it's just me but Sticky and Sweet tour was the worst of the lot.
Love the GS. Yes, her voice was off on a few songs, but there was some real brilliant stuff going on as well. I don't understand all the hate for Sticky. It wasn't the best but not the worst. For me that would be Drowned.
Girlie Show was brilliant. Pure theatre! She channelled so much old school movie all the way through. It had everything. You never knew where sge was gonn take you next. Live, it was spellbinding believe me. Erotica was electric. I also love DWT for same reasons. They're the two tours I watch most on DVD and I would love them on Blue Ray. I watch Confessions when I want to be thought provoking AND entertained. I feel blessed to have seen every one of M's tours and you learn something new about her everytime.
GS was and still is pure brilliance!! From down the pole at the start to the revealing of the marionette at the end - pop concert meets theatrical extravaganza!!!!
I hate theatre. If I wanted that, I'd go to Broadway. I go to a Madonna concert to see a fantastic pop show. Sorry. GS sucked, so did DWT and even several parts of BA. Sticky & Sweet was great. If you didn't like that show, you didn't like Confessions. They are quite similar.
It was my first concert of hers and if it wasn't for that I don't think it would be one of my favorites. There were elements that were amazing and there were some, i.e lack of older songs, tha made the show feel drawn out.
The opening of the show was my favorite of all her concerts. You didnt know where she was going to pop out from. I also loved the Vouge performance and Justify My Love. Other than that it was pretty boring. zzz
Yes, like with every tour, there are great moments, I agree. And DWT was my first tour. Saw it 3 times in LA. I enjoyed it live, but on DVD it just doesn't translate well and I can't watch it. Not to mention she refused to brush her hair or put on make-up :P
love GS! so theatrical and artistic!! in this life, like a virgin and bye bye baby performances are some of the best, but the best part for me is everybody! amazing vocals, unstoppable dancing...flawless!!
Tied with the Drowned World Tour as her worst. 'Rain' was great, though!
