I love everything about Love Profusion. The song, the video, her Jean Harlow Red Dust cut dress, her shoes, her lying on the ocean water floor. Lots of bounce.
yeah not my favorite video or single BUT love it when im just playing American Life LP in sequence! I do love how she loves a simple floral dress reminds of the one she wore in the past shoots etc..
Love Profusion is disgusting, it's Madonna's worst video, it's not even a video but a rehashed and re edited perfume commercial and the first time that Madonna was lazy.
American Life is the lowest point, artistically and commercially, of Madonna's career and Love Profusion is the lowest of all that low point.
I think the Love Profusion video is beautifully done. And I think it illustrates the two sides to love--peace and chaos. American Life is her least commercial work, why should we chastise her for trying something different? I think it's a great album, very thoughtful. How could you say that it's the lowest point of her career artistically? If she made the album she set to make out, and is satisfied with it, then it isn't a failure in the eyes of the artist.
Well the commercial aspect is not really important, and I don't think American Life turned out to be the album Madonna set out to do. For starters it was going to be a more dance album, second the American Life video mess, I mean it was all a mess and did not turn out like Madonna expected it too, largely because of her own fault.
And all of the songs suck, the only good one is Hollywood, or at least it's the only one Madonna has embraced.
I don't think it's a coincidence that Madonna hasn't included anything from American Life in her two subsequent tours after Re-Invention. American Life sucks, period.
After the truly brilliant trio of Die Another Day, American Life (the original version), and Hollywood, the Love Profusion video just wasn't that good. It looked cheap and it's clear she filmed it in less than an hour. Not the first time she's been lazy (Who's That Girl anyone?). She looks good in these photos though.
Excuse you but Who's That Girl was a PROPER VIDEO at least, something that can't be said of Love Profusion.
Also, I'm not going to lie, back in the day I thought Hollywood was brilliant, but time always gives way to clarity, and I realize now that it's a terrible mediocre video by any standards, and coming from Madonna, the woman who took the music video to a whole new level is, well, unforgivable.
Die Another Day is of course brilliant, and so is American Life although it doesn't match the song.
I think American Life should've had a Stepford Wives type of video.
I liked Love Profusion, she looked fresh and lovely in her floral dress. And speaking of Die Another Day, love love love it. I liked that she didn't care about looking pretty in that video and it was so cool. Great song. lol @ 'dirty marks on the studio floor' I don't blame her for making cheap videos once in a while, and out of those I would rate Jump as the worst but even so, there are so many great ones it doesn't matter.
I think it looks like a deodorant commercial.

The Who's That Girl video was so cheap it wasn't a proper video... you could see dirty marks on the studio floor.
ReplyDeleteGosh, Ramon, you certainly don't have many nice things to say about Madonna or her work, it's a wonder why you're even here...

gotta love pixel-tracking.
ReplyDeletei don't hate this video but i don't really like it much. i suppose we should be grateful we even got a third video during that period.
hollywood is beautiful but cost a mint (what with bourdin's sons lawsuit and out of court settlement). and she looks stunning.
die another day - her last truly subversive single. miss that m. american life was a powerful album. and important album.
don't talk to me about jump!
She looked AMAZING in this video! That full, 1995 Susan face. The body was PERFECT and so was the face!!
ReplyDelete1985 face* and Hollywood was awful! The song, video and all remixes except the brilliant Oakenfold mix!!
