Is ABC Television Ageist? Deems Madonna Fragrance Commercial Too Racy.

@ABC

I was shocked when I heard that ABC television thought Madonna's new fragrance ad for her Truth or Dare perfume was too suggestive. Even more shocking was they wanted to digitally alter her brassiere to cover more of her cleavage and create a girdle to cover her derriere! And even after they do that 'creative' work, it can only be shown after 9 pm and during The View. Ha!

The ad is shot beautifully in black and white, looking like a vintage home movie reel. I watched it over and over to find at least one thing to back up ABC's claim. NOTHING. So, I can only conclude that it's Madonna's age they have a problem with. Women around the world should be outraged.

Hypocritical ABC television shows 20 year old Kate Upton's extremely suggestive and creatively void Carls Jr. commercial without a blink of an eye. Way more cleavage and suggests an orgasm in the backseat of a car at the drive in theater.

Absolutely ridiculous.

    3. Because like the stock market, people like to analyze things on different levels. The Madonna machine is fun to watch. This perfume is crap and a copy of Fracas and she's marketing it through Coty. It's awesome that Coty and Madonna will make a ton from it but it's just cheap dime store stuff. This is the Madonna business side at work.

  2. @vanity_boner...I can't believe you are still at it! Lol. What the heck are you talking about? There isn't anything in this commercial that suggests she is courting controversy, and the same can be said of the GGW video...Madonna has always injected sexuality into her work. She looks phenomenal and everything she does is suggestive and implicit...There is nothing vulgar about it. Ageism is everywhere...It is worse than ever, perhaps because no one has ever seen a woman over 50 as sexually raw and engaged as Madonna. She will continue to push boundaries. As she stated recently, anyone who expects her to conform to conventional decisions as she ages is only going to be disappointed. And, unfortunately, ridiculously and unnecessarily outraged. Flap on bitches!

  3. The burger commercial is just as suggestive as the Madonna commercial if not more. Sorry, but Madonna looks awesome and doesn't have to apologize to anyone for it. If ABC is THAT concerned about their proper programming, they should take a look at the age and weight of the people that are fine with them for the programs they deem "OK" for broadcast. I watch NOTHING on ABC, so it doesn't mean much to me either way. Let them eat dirt.

  4. Just like Madonna opened the doors for all these pop stars, she will open the doors for them to still have a career past the age of 50.

    1. Which is incredibly unfortunate because I don't want to be 50 and STILL have to here about Lady Gaga, Rihanna and other useless trollops that don't deserve a career past 25 to be honest.

  6. I hadn't noticed that the ad looks a lot like Erotica, or a continuation of it. It's interesting to see her evolution because she was so against sexuality during Ray of Light, Music and American Life. I'm glad she's sexy back.

  7. PR machine at work. But the thing is, it isn't even controversial in any way. Even the news report is a dead horse and unoriginal. One can see more erotic, almost vulgar, ads and shows on basic television.

  8. i love it when Madonna serves up a project with a side of controversy. Hasn't it always been that way? People still fall for it every time. LOL.
