Hoping to God there are better highlights to the show than what i just saw and more costumes as well!?! She looks tired and its just the first show. I enjoy being critical because among other things i have learnt from Madonna is to think for myself and not allow others to influence my opinion and what i just saw reminded me a lot of her past tours and looks. That Gualtier outfit looks like a mash up of past looks (Blond ambition corset, Express yourself video hairdo, Black tie and white shirt from the outfit she wore when she gave that MTV speech after Dianas death, and Keep it together wire frame vest also from BA) The pants this time make her look shorter, she has good legs, she should show them more. Good that she covered her arms but that band leader outfit could have used shorter sleeves and what the fuck is up with those retarded looking capes she has worn recently??? remember super bowel? makes me want to scream like that fashion designer in Incredibles "NO CAPES".A dark stage and dark outfits (Like a prayer BA, and Men in Masonic Hoods Sticky and Sweet) seems all to repetitive. The best thing i liked, although i dont like to admit, is the first picture in the Gualtier outfit, she looks every bit her age and i like that, i was just hoping she could be cutting edge and still be regal, yes Regal, thats the word missing in all this. Look it up.
The majorette thing was almost embarrassing to look at but I see the message in it which is the ultimate point in it all. I'm sure it looks much different live. Video never does a Madonna performance justice with one of the only exceptions being Blonde Ambition. That concert was a work of art on every conceivable level and came across brilliantly the way they filmed it. We'll have to see how her team films this show to see her point of view.
I'm not "luvin" the cheerleader segment the choreography and outfits are scaring me.I feel like there's some kinks to work out but that's always the case for opening shows. I love the rest of the costumes and I like the use of religious imagery. Some might say that it's "reductive" but I feel that she's used it her entire career like if you were going to see MJ you want to see the white gloves and fedora. Even though the two had very different styles in their tours,I know if I saw a Madonna concert I would feel a bit unsatisfied if there wasn't a crucifix somewhere. lol I look forward to seeing more! =]
The whole "supersonic" part of Give Me All Your Luvin was pretty awesome. She was giving a lot of raw energy. I feel like the skirt could be shorter and the sleeves too. To me it looks like what cheerleaders wore when she was a cheerleader. Maybe that is what she is going for? I'm not sure.
yo, village idiot - i meant from start to finish. neither of us can make a claim either way until then, and i'm not trying to. stop talking about gaga.
That Lady is still Hot after all these years! God bless you Madge!-all for the joy and love of rock & roll! Madonna, how do I Love You? Let me count the ways...Brilliance!
IM FOLLOWING YOU.... :)
ReplyDeleteFOR EVERY GLORIOUS MOMENT!
The first picture is incredibly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe corset suit thingy is like a combination of Blonde Ambition Express Yourself meets Keep It Together meets the suit from the Erotica Video.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great! but I'm not watching any video until I go see her in September.

ReplyDeletegood thing she isnt a cheerleader! she is a drum leader and she looks fantastic.
Deletewhen you can krump like madonna, then you can complain :)
Stunning visuals/sound during Act of Contrition, fantastic entrance... then Girl Gone Wild. It never sounded worse.
ReplyDeleteThe cheerleader look isn't the greatest but it looks fabulous during Give Me All Your Luvin. But is her skirt too long? Makes her look short.
