the crazy thing about this gorgeous corset, along with every other over-the-top costume she's worn, is that Madonna always shines through. the outfit never wears her, it's always the other way around. M brought fashion and pop music together unlike any before her... or arguably... since!
Amazing to see every detail up close. All of the photos we have of that iconic outfit are always of her dancing in it, so it's always hard to get a good look at the details. Amazing that it's taken this long.
I love how feminine it looks in the box, yet Madonna was able to bring such an adrogynous, masculine (yet still sexy) look to it, with her muscles and trousers. Love it!
the apex of madonna iconography. The fact is that these corsets are many around the world. Is it possible. As some relics, is possible that there are 5 or more skulls of S. Sebastian aroun the world?

ReplyDeleteΑΜΑΖΙΝΓ! SUCH AN ICONIC ITEM!!
ReplyDeleteI saw the gold corset at the rock and roll hall of fame exhibition in new york a few years a go and nearly died! It's amazing to see it up close.
ReplyDeleteThat is some crazy shit to have!
ReplyDeleteOn its own, it looks so gentle...and yet, when Madonna wore it, it embodied power, androgyny, and sexiness (the trousers and jacket helped, ha ha).
ReplyDeleteIncredible to see all the details like this. Still a gorgeous piece of work after all these years.
