#Madonna in Marlene Stewart and @JPGaultier Jacket

Madonna pictured here at her Broadway Speed The Plow Premiere (1988).  She is wearing a dress made for her by Marlene Stewart and carrying a Jean Paul Gaultier jacket.

In the video below, Marlene Stewart, who went on to be an Academy Award nominated costume designer for motion pictures, narrates the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's Fashioning Fashion - European Dress in Detail 1700-1915.  Stewart discusses the time she spent with Madonna and how they would study books from libraries to design her clothes.  Marlene worked exclusively with Madonna from 1985-1990.

  2. Madonna's dress sense improved dramatically in 1990. Some of the outfits Marlene Stewart made for Madonna were awful.

I liked everything from the Virgin Tour though, and I think she was responsible for them. How much would we all love the Dress You Up jacket?

    1. OMG - I'd flat line if she ever put it on again! it's probably to big for her NOW! I do get annoyed when she says she hates repeating herself. But she does it so many times in her lyrics. WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER IN THE VIRGIN TOUR JACKET!!!

    2. Didn't Keith or Martin do the jacket for the DUP Virgin tour? I honestly can't remember. Early onset Alzheimer's. :(

LOVED that she wore things more than once and still reeling over the Floral Print dress you bring up every now and again! Damn, she wore that sh!t before she was famous! ..then let Jennifer Grey wear it! LOVE <3 <3 <3 !!!
