My only gripe is that they label Madonna as a brand. It wasn't a brand, it was a full package for the first time in pop music. She had great pop songs, a totally original look (not lame, but not quite punk) and a huge attitude. The girls and some gays wanted to be her. The boys wanted to fuck her, everyone wanted to dance with her and SHE couldn't be bothered by any of it! Brilliance.
Madonna ruled the 80's. She was the epitome of cool. I watch DSS now and I still want to be her! I own the anchor earrings she is wearing in that first clip.
Like a Virgin-Immortal Artwork. During MDNA, IT WAS RECAST AS A SAD BALLAD ABOUT LOSS AND SADNESS! This is why Madonna has lasted so long in the public eye. She is a work of art!
Wish I was old enough to have been freaked out by LAV at the MVA's back then. It's hard to reference that feeling now because it looks so silly to me. I imagine it was the same reaction people had to BA in 1990.
How young are you Lager? It was revolutionary at the time. Looking back it seems tame. But it empowered girls all over the World and made a huge impact on pop music.
The 80s wouldn't be the 80's without the Madonna. Nor would the 90's, the 00's, or the... what decade are we in now???

DeleteAnd thanks Pudd for finding this for us!

ReplyDeleteHow did you get to own them?
DeleteIf you weren't alive during that period to witness, you simply don't realize how massive Madonna was. There was nobody else. Period.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. Never seen it with anyone else
