The Entire "Fame" Audition - Fabulous.

Look up, look down, look straight ahead.

I'll tell you. Fuck Fame, she is Fame. It's because she's too sexual by nature. Eyes flapping...She's Madonna. And they couldn't take it. They should have just written a part for her. She can't squeeze in. Too Potent. End.

"Meet me in the library. 7 o'clock."

  2. One more thing: did you notice that the bottom of her nose was more rounded around this time? Actually it was a very ugly nose (Check the profile photos). So don't say she didn't have plastic surgery three years later, maybe around late '83. Stop denials. Deal with the truth for the firts time in your madonnichal life.
    Sad.

  3. Interesting. She seemed like a much better actress early in her career, and her speech and mannerisms remind me so much of "Susan." I was half expecting her to say, "Good going Stranger."

I wonder why her acting became so much more wooden or she seemed so much more self conscious as she got older.

I'm glad she didn't get a role on Fame though. She would have become, "That girl from Fame" and it might have worked against her later. It's funny to hear her talk about her music and the interviewer seems rather disinterested. A few years later they would be playing her songs on the show.

  5. Well, OK, but that "sex-appeal" never turned men on.

  6. Had Maddie had a partin fame, the film wouldn't have been the success it was.
One more thing: I can see she had that annoying broken speech even back then! She never learn to speak fluently.

  7. Was her acting really so bad? I often think people just say so because that's how the media portrayed it. Maybe I'm being naive. Seems to me she just picked movies that weren't great and got the blame for everything.

To that guy '...' your posts are so boring and your obsession with Madonna is unhealthy. Just saying!

  8. ...You are a fucking idiot as usual. This is for the series Fame.

What I think is interesting is how infantile her idea of flirtation is. It's so clear in the way she seduces that she learned that from trying to get her daddy's attention. For a young woman, that's normal, but hers is magnified by 100! Says a lot about the guys who were into her.

She looks wonderful in the close-ups at the end! I'd never seen that part. You can really see that face. Funny thing is that she still speaks the same way all these years later. The intonation, the speech pattern. She still responds to the camera the same way. Only idiots that are looking for an extra curve at the bottom of her nose or who still think of her as a slut or having a British accent will find fault with what is important archival footage.

  9. @Dontlookback - I dont think her acting is really that bad. I just notice she seems more comfortable with her early roles than more recent ones. To me, she seemed kind of stiff in The Next Best Thing and Die Another Day. But in Desperately Seeking Susan, A League of Their Own, she seemed very comfortable with the role and came across as very fluid and natural.

I agree that Madonna's acting was really unfairly judged through most of her career. Most movie critics seemed to jump on the Bash Madonna Bandwagon. But on the flip side, she chose several roles that didn't play to her strengths.

  10. I always thought that Madonna was potentially a good actress but as time goes by she was so aware of her star's status that she wanted her roles to stay in touch with her public image. The only movie were she seems to throw away her image is Dangerous game, the film is a mess but Madonna's performance is really great.

  11. I simply love her! Great footage, thanks so much for sharing! Madonna before becoming MADONNA :)

  12. the rookie acting style here is both PURE and pre-DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN... "Look danny, lets just make like two ships that pass in this night" ----compared with----- "I've got good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first? All right, good news first. Roberta's not working with the greaseball." We're seeing a rough Susan in the making... ACT 1 of Madonna's great iconic personality show... the cute young flirty street rat with great style and zero posturing, glamour or etiquitte... pre-Hollywood Madonna was so much more interesting because of her rough edges and no-holds-barred ambition.
