The Power of Goodbye - MTV Euro Awards, Milan

Such a great live vocal performance. That she can sing a song like this in the pop music forum and make it so powerful is one of the many reasons why Madonna is so exceptional. There will never be another. Also, at the end is her accepting two awards. She's mind-blowingly gorgeous here to me. xo

  1. Now I'll be serious for the very first time: THIS IS HER WORST LOOK EVER (BAD HAIRCUT, BAD STYLING, BAD COLOUR, HIDEOUS MAKE UP). I wonder why she went along with this.

  2. I prefer how she looked on Top Of The Pops with the sleek straight hair. Love this song, would be a great song to add to her next tour set list methinks. I miss her ballads.

  3. I think I'm missing something. This is a DREADFUL performance. Her vocals are so, so bad. I actually thought I'd never see this performance posted on here because it's so bad. I love listening to Madonna live but this is the one performance I can't get through. Almost a deal breaker. Surely I'm not alone?

  4. Not bad, but not very good, IMO. Her vocal performance on the VH1 Fashion Awards was MUCH better, except the, 'do you wanna go highERRRRR' part, of course.

  5. She was shouting the song more than singing it, even her 'thank you' seemed forced like she was speaking to the deaf!

  7. i said in a previous comment (can't remember the blog entry) that the live performances of this song from this era were horrible, and this performance, unfortunately, is proof that she's straining her voice in attempt to singing in key. it's a damn shame 'cause it's a really great song (in my opinion). love how the music video references the great movie, "humoresque." pud even posted screencaps of comparisons:

  10. Her voice is weird, maybe it was a sound problem? you can hear like a weird echo. Either way she looked gorgeous, so beautiful, and this was back when people actually CARED about Madonna. I just can't believe we are living in a world were Madonna is so completely irrelevant and redundant. I never thought this would happen.

  12. vocally this was a bad moment for madonna, but the crowd went really CRAZY !!!! when i first saw this on TV i went "wtf! the crowd is so damn crazy about madonna!!!"
Ramon H. i dont agree with you. madonna always finds a way. don't forget that her last HUGELY successful single was only two years ago!! madonna will always be relevant through all these semi-stars, trying to be like the Queen of Pop!

  14. Yeah, well it was 1998. Everytime she took a shit that year, she got an award!

  15. last time I checked, '4 minutes' hit the top 5 on Billboard hot 100 here in the US. that is not mild. lmao.

  16. 4minutes is a globally huge hit whether we like it or not. more than 2,000,000 downloads, it went at #1 in 21 countries including the UK where it topped the top40 chart for 4 weeks! in the US it reached #3! if it's not success, then what it is?
