Madonna's First Ever Sit Down Interview with MTV

Wearing her fabulous stink hole leather jacket that was signed by everyone including Andy Warhol and a T Shirt by Keith Haring - that she cut up to make her head band - Madonna stopped by and spoke to Mark Goodman in her first ever televised sit down interview in May 1984 to deliver her sex to America. Mark Goodman wanted to fuck her.

24 years ago Tonight! Who's That Girl Tour in Miami

Madonna kicked off the North American leg of her Who's That Girl Tour in Miami, Florida in front of 70,000 fans with MTV news and cameras all about. I stayed at home and recorded all the footage from MTV - it was fantastic. The Miami version of Causing a Commotion is still my favorite version of all time. She was all rained on and buff, androgynous and fabulous. The song hadn't been released yet. She kicked ass in that Florida heat even with all them Horrida bugs flying around her and shyt. Fantastique!!!

MTV news report.

The greatest Causing a Commotion of all time. Even if the footage is jack'd up.

Open Your Heart - so clear and wonderful - shot for the MTV broadcast.

2 Years Ago Today - Michael Jackson Died

Madonna remembers her time with Michael Jackson and his affect on the entertainment community and his fans at the MTV video music awards. I was never fan of MJ - although the other day I was digg'n Human Nature on the radio. Anyway - I love what Madonna says here and, of course, sending good energy to his fans, friends and family.

Some "No Bull" Additional Footage

I don't remember all this footage in the No Bull - the making of Take a Bow. All that tortilla talk, going on about her French Twist - mmhmm. Seems like this is extra. Anyway, it's fab. She's gorgeous and those knockers. Fantastique!

Keep It Together and Holiday - Blond Ambition Tour - Houston, Texas

Blond Date Weekend - MTV - May 4, 1990. Madonna kicks off her North American leg of the Blond Ambition Tour in Houston, Texas at The Summit. On MTV, they had a Madonna weekend and they showed Keep It Together and Holiday. Completely fantastic. I remember they showed all these video outtakes from the Express Yourself video. Interestingly, they played Keep It Together first.

All Dressed Up - Back Stage at Live Aid with Madonna

This is video that they aired the day of Live Aid on July 13, 1985 on MTV. The commentators are MTV VJ's Mark Goodman and Martha Quinn - who was such a dingle!!! Sideline Trivia: Martha was always a Cyndi supporter and loathed Madonna for her overt sexuality. Here, she refers to Madonna's next single, Dress You Up as "All Dressed Up" - a long time joke among me and someone special ♥. She also confuses farckle Bette Midler as Madonna. As you can see, Bette was so eager to meet Madonna (and watching every move Madonna made) who was working maniacally backstage to get everything perfect and boy did she. She rocked those rock f*ck'rs! This was the day that the Disco Sex Bomb became the Rock Star.

Don't forget fans, that at Live Aid Madonna was the ONLY performer out there with background dancers and doing an entire routine. Something that the Rock Crowd, she was about to perform for, frowned upon and was not of the norm that we see EVERYWHERE today. At every award show, every concert, etc. It was our Miss Madonna that pushed all that shyt out there in everyones faces. Not to mention that the two background dancers were flamboyant and waving tambourines up and through. Ha! Also remember that Dick Clark lobbied hard to get Madonna on this show, the producers didn't want her - they thought of her only as a dancer and dance artist. Click HERE to watch Dick Clark defend Madonna in the last video. xo

It was so brilliant to have this footage and it was the first time we saw Madonna Behind the Scenes. This footage looks just the way mine does on VHS to this day.

Giovedi 2 Marzo 22:25 - Madonna and Pepsi - The Big Bang

The Italian Madonna Pepsi Teaser Commercial. I always loved how there was a commercial for the commercial. The American version of this was first shown on February 22, 1989 during the Grammy Awards revealing the forthcoming March 2 debut of Madonna's Pepsi commercial that would feature the new song from her new album, Like a Prayer.

The actual commercial was shown just once on March 2, 1989 during America's number one television program, The Cosby Show. It was simultaneously shown in 40 countries around the world to 250 million viewers. The first time in media history that a commercial had an around the world satellite premiere.

The following day on MTV, Madonna premiered her fabulous video for the song, Like a Prayer. The shyt hit the fan. Pepsi withheld further airings of the commercial which were to be edited down 30 second spots of the original. Madonna was also supposed to shoot a second commercial that would announce her upcoming tour with the Pepsi logo all up and through. Never happened.

Christian groups went berserk. Christian fundamentalist, Reverend Donald Wildmon was so appalled with Madonna's video that he threatened to have his American Family Association 380,000 subscribers boycott Pepsi. Then Catholic Bishop, Rene Gracido also called Madonna's video offensive and threatened to not only going after Pepsi but it's other multi-million dollar fast food restaurants, as well. To top it all off, the Pope and the Vatican released a statement damning Madonna. Pepsi bowed out. We never got the second commercial and Madonna said, Eat It!!! - (not an actual quote) - and kept the 5 million bucks.

Click Here for a previous post that shows a great program explaining and illustrating not only the Pepsi controversy but also one of Madonna's Greatest Videos of All Time - Like a Prayer: Videos That Rocked The World.

Trivia: On March 3, 2010 - 21 years to the day Like a Prayer premiered on MTV, Rev. Donald Wildmon stepped down from the American Family Association.

Madonna Driven

They made these programs and really there was only one reason to do it: Madonna. She has talent, the myth, the story, the life, the rise - all of it. The Jackpot.

Your Favorite Madonna MTV Music Video Award Performance

In 1984, at the inaugural MTV Music Video Award show - Madonna - singing the never before heard title track from her highly anticipated Like a Virgin album, was the bride in heat. Singing, moaning and slithering down that cake like a serpent. Virtually ignoring the audience - aside from kicking off her shoes and chucking her bouquet in their faces - the sex drenched lioness prowled that stage, searched and hit each camera man as if they were prey. This was the very first live televised performance of her career.

Madonna ruled MTV in the 80's but Express Yourself was only Madonna's second live appearance on the award show in 1989. This was the prototype of the version we would eventually see on The Blond Ambition Tour. It is also the first time we see Madonna vogueing. Although they were on the Who's That Girl Tour in 1987, this is also the first time we see Niki Harris and Donna DeLory as her primary background singers and dancers. Something that would last until The Drowned World Tour in 2001.

Fresh off the Blond Ambition Tour, Madonna returned to the MTV Music Video Awards stage in 1990 performing Vogue as we had never seen before - Madonna donning Marie Antoinette garb. This highly influential and phenomenal performance set the bar on what we would see singers do at award shows and concerts till date.

In 1993, after The Sex Book and Erotica backlash, Madonna had been rehearsing for her 4th tour, The Girlie Show. That September before she hit the road, she gave a preview of Bye Bye Baby at the 10th annual MTV Music Video Awards.

It had been 5 years since Madonna had performed live on MTV. In 1998, she returned with her highly acclaimed Ray of Light. She started this performance with the album track Shanti/Ashtangi. Lenny Kravitz joined her onstage playing the guitar.

Later that year, Madonna went to Milan and performed the Power of Goodbye from her Ray of Light album at the Euro MTV Music Video Awards.

A few months after the birth of Rocco, Madonna performed Music at the 7th annual Euro MTV Music Video Awards on November 16, 2000. She would then embark on the Drowned World Tour in 2001, her first tour since The Girlie Show.

In 2003, Madonna kicked off the MTV Music Video Awards with an echo of her first ever MTV performance, however, this time she would emerge from the cake as the groom singing Hollywood from her American Life album. Her two brides - Britney Spears and Christina Aguliera - performed Like a Virgin. Missy Elliot also joins this lezbatonical mash up while a sour pussed Mary J Blige, Justin Timberlake and a host of others watch in awe. The Infamous Kiss from this performance spread around the world like wildfire.

In 2005, after being written off by the critics and some of her fan base, Madonna came back to the MTV Music Video Awards with a bang, slaying her competition and stealing the show with Hung Up from her album, Confessions on a Dance Floor.

It's been said time and time again who put the M in MTV. As for live performances on the MTV Video Music Awards, Madonna set the standard and left her contemporaries eating her dust.

What is your favorite performance and why?
