'Born This Way' Is Lady Gaga's 'Like A Prayer', Perez Hilton Says

Well, I just really can't comment on thaaaaaaaaaaaaat

Born This Way Is Lady Gaga's Like A Prayer, Perez Hilton Says

Lady Gaga's Born This Way has been dubbed many things: Gaga's "freedom" album and even "the greatest album of this decade." When Gaga's pal Perez Hilton spoke to MTV News, he had this to say: "This album is Gaga's Like A Prayer, and that is huge praise coming from me, who is, like, the biggest Madonna fan ever," he gushed to MTV News. "And I told Gaga that I think this album is her Like A Prayer, and she took that as a big compliment, and I'm so tempted to say more."

For those in need of a history lesson, Madonna released Like A Prayer in 1989, spawning singles like "Cherish," "Express Yourself" and "Like A Prayer." It launched a wedding dress-wearing boy toy into a full-blown pop icon who had more to say about love and life than her bows and lace of earlier albums led fans to believe. Based on the lyrics released from Gaga's title-track lead single, she too will be proving she has a lot to say.

"What's amazing about this body of work," Perez continued, "is that it really is that Born This Way is a body of work, where all of the songs make sense together. And it's as if she created this world or co-created this world with her fans, and all of these songs inhabit that world. And it's so special. The songs, the album, the videos are gonna change culture. It's gonna save lives, and it's gonna get people dancing."

Listen, I can't. Perez Hilton should NEVER be able to utter Madonna's name. Especially in the same sentence as that over-hyped heinous gargoyle, Lady Gaga.

  2. i loved that. i was fooled at first by gaga... and i thought, maybe she was the second coming of madonna. but then i realized it was pure blasphemy. when the video for "alejandro" came out, i smelled a rat.
and don't get me started on perez. i cannot stand him and wish that people would just stop listening to him. he gives gays a bad name!
thanks for that! it made me smile.

  3. Well,i dont have anything against Lady Gaga (saw her twice in concert and going again this coming March),i like her but we cant just judge or say something like this when we didnt even hear the whole album or at least the song itself. I will give my opinion when "Born this way" comes out.

  4. I'm not anti-LG, but good luck in living up to that.

Like A Prayer was M's 4th album, released when she had just turned 30 and been through 6 years of intense fame and a high-profile marriage.

Saying this is going to be the best album of the decade is a bit presumptuous. She's setting herself up for disappointment and backlash. We all know it will sell millions as she's 'hot' right now. It's all hype.

She's running before she can walk.

  5. Madonna is the reason of my life.

But I respect Gaga for doing what Madonna should be doing right now.

  6. He's such an annoying asshole. He spoils that new Rihanna video for me.

I'm not a Lady GaGa hater - but she'll never "have a Like a Prayer album". It's just NOT POSSIBLE.

That said - I'm looking forward to "Born This Way" because I do think she makes good pop songs. I'm sure I'll find the singles very catchy and I'll probably quite like the videos.

  7. LIKE A PRAYER (on the other hand) was and is a MASTERPIECE of EPIC PROPORTIONS.

Words just cannot describe what it was like to be a fan in 1989 when that album came and took over the world...

  8. I think Born This Way will have its own voice it's own concept, and be successful in its own right. It't rudimentary to be comparing it to anybody else's body of work. LAP need not worry.

  9. But who is Perez? Is he great opinion-maker? Maybe he is paid by Gaga for PR?

Anyway these 2 albums can't be compaires with each other. As said rl81 Madonna turned 30 and she was mentally mature, she was on peak of her creativity, energy, etc. So LP is a masterpiece not only of all M career to date, but masterpeiece of the whole pop-culture in 80th.

Gaga is 24, so she can do something like "Into the Groove" no more. And if Perez compaires Born this way to LP, it means that Gaga is on peak of her creativity and career. Too early. And if it's a 'masterpiece', only for Gaga personally.

  11. Oh shut up idiots. You can have your opinions once Stillborn This Way hits the internet, but I can assure you that there is nothing in the realm of Like A Prayer on the album, nor will there ever be coming from this revolting snouthead. She is a drug-addled, skinny fat, lecherous wannabe and the fact that, once again, something "new" by Joanne is being compared to something Madonna has ALREADY done. When will people just get it?

As for Perez Hilton, I made a decision to boycott his repulsively shallow website a year ago, and I haven't missed his pig talk once. In fact, it was a serious liberation to stop visiting gossip websites. They are all run by miserable, fat people who wish they were celebrities. Does anyone doubt that this Farkle Pig wouldn't give a trout's pussy about Lady Gaga if it hadn't been for the fact that she was ugly and approachable when he first encountered her and she won the random fame lottery? They are both pathetic and speak volumes for today's culture. If that is what people want, let them have it. The rest of us are occasionally pained by it, but at least we have taste.

  13. look, Madonna is the benchmark by which all female performers are measured.. notably the younger ones. LAP was a phenomenal album but I dig what Gaga is trying to do... she's taking a stand for the GBLT community and that's admirable. As for 'Born This Way' being "Gaga's LAP," those were Perez Hilton's words, not hers. He's a troll, a douche, and a sycophant... who cares what he says... it's drivel.

  14. look, madonna could dance. look, madonna was sexy. look, madonna had the 'it' factor. gaga has none of these. she has ONE ALBUM!!!!!!!!!! lol

if the music good pop fluff them im sure ill enjoy it, but nobody should be making this thing into anything more then waht she is. a pop tart, like all the rest, without the dancing ability and it factor. nothing more, nothing less.

still think she belongs behind a piano in a lounge in tahoe. :)

  16. Gaga herself has over-hyped this album. I think she's trying too hard to prove things. She reached the ultimate top with her first album only. I guess this is too risky. When someone reaches the top so fast, there are two options: stay to the top or fall of the top.
Madonna's work speaks louder than her words, in contrast to Gaga, who is talkin and talkin, but her music has nothing innovative and has nothing to do with all this freaky, weird profile she promotes. Born this way is suppossed to be an anthem to freedom of expression (express yourself homage??), but Gaga chose to abandon her own self and the way she was born by changing her name and pretending she's someone else. So, for which freedom and self respect is she talking about?
Born this way will be a huge hit because it's the follow-up to the (unreasonably) successful Fame. The issue is what's up next. time will tell.

  17. pud, why post this? you're adding to the hype.

    ReplyDelete
  18. what hype? i only see rabid young gays and perez talk about her. nobody else cares.

  19. I love Gaga, but all this hype around "Born This Way" could come back to bite her in the ass. I mean Like A Prayer is one of the quintessential pop albums of the 80's (or all time really), so that's a pretty lofty comparison.

Besides with the lyrical emphasis on gender identity/sexual expression, it sounds like it'll be her Erotica. But that's a pretty high expectation as well. Bottom line: bytch betta have the hits, or she'll get slaughtered. No tea, no shade.

  21. Her song is DEFINITELY NOT the same calibre as Like A Prayer. That is all.
