And what the Italians thought of her.

  1. Pud,my grandfather used to have a shop in Venice,(he lived there)and saw her closely. He told me several times how beautiful she was,but people kept wondering"who's that girl? - is she crazy,on a boat like that?! - she could fall! and what a tramp!"
He remembers well that day,too bad he didn't take photos. And when the video came out(and told the story for the 1st time),he said"oh look, this is the chick that danced like crazy".I asked him everything about that day,and I still can't believe that I didn't met her too.

  2. I wish they'd release the full interview, so rare to hear her discuss her past, I remember vh-1 showing a clip from this interview where she discussed 'Vogue.'

  3. Very awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing that story CodeX too! There are very few "behind the scenes" photos of the making of the Like A Virgin video. I have questions too. Like did someone catch her jacket she throws off? If so, who? LOL Also, the black dress that she wears with the big holes on the sides was so ultra cool. I always wondered when I was younger how come she never wore it again. But, knowing Madonna, she probably knew after all the airplay and the smash hit it became she shouldn't. She needed to do something else. :)

Cool story. You grandfather must have thought of thatday everytime M was in the news. Lucky guy.

I would love for M to do an interview on the creative processes of some of her greatest videos. She was the bomb back then. Lately she seems lazy with her videos (Love Profusion, Get Together, Give It 2Me). She should really go back to storytelling ie. Bad Girl or Oh Father and use director like David Fincher again.

I would love her to work with Joesph Khan and Hype Williams!!

  6. @Ramón H.

I think she said "Creamy Smooth Pop Icon Goddess" first during the Ruby Wax interview in 1994.

  7. Yes, I really thought the ultimate treat would've been for Madonna to do audio commentary on the Celebration DVD. Maybe one day? A boy can dream. Same goes for Truth or Dare. She and Alex are working together now on W.E. Would be the perfect time!

  8. great story, codex!

oh father and bad girl arent even on the celebration dvd! crazy. also, david fincher is a brilliant director, not just great with madonna. he did most of paula abdul's videos which are brilliant as well.

also, she worked with hype williams.he directed the horrible 'me against the music' video. she looked terrible and there were rumors they didnt get along well.
