  1. I have such mixed feelings about this tour. Don't know why.

  2. They must be mixed with good and great as there was nothing bad about the tour. It was excellent. Not 'Confessions' excellent, but good nonetheless.

  5. Didn't like this tour either. I like the documentary though. Love seeing Madonna casting her dancers.

  6. Great to see her dancing again but the songs, costumes and sets were all below standard for me.

I have to admit that that the dancing was great. She kept up with her dancers and it was great to see her move again.

    @everyone

I half agree with everyone. Not sure why though, maybe because I had really good seats and I could see the sweat on her face. But, after watching the DVD months later, I realized that this concert was unemotional. Everything from her entrance to the costumes to the repeated songs from ‘Confession Tour’, this felt like a forced tour to meet the requirements of her deal with Live Nation.

All her costume since the ‘Drowned World’ your have been mediocre at best. It’s funny to see that TV shows like ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ have better costumes than her tours. She really needs a new stylist and manager.

Overall the show seems unemotional and scripted. The opening of the show set the bar for the rest of it (it was no ‘Confession’ entrance). The receptiveness of the songs (La Isla Bonita/Ray of Light) used from the ‘Confessions Tour’ was a bit of a let down too.

Anyways, check out my front row pics from the concert in Toronto:

  9. I had a great time at the show in cardiff and then in 2009 in Manchester and enjoyed both imensley, but compared to previous tours, it was lacking. The fact that she had to re-record the vocals for the dvd also shades my opinion of the show. Not bad by any means, just not as good as previous ones.

How do youknow she re-recorded vocals?
She did sound a hot mess live...lol

She deff needs vocal training again. She sounded so good durning the Evita/Ray of Light days.

  13. for me this tour was right up there with the Who's That Girl tour in '87... oversized, underwhelming, lackluster costumes & no real sense of theater or intimacy that you get from her other tours. It really did feel like a Live Nation fulfillment tour... especially Part 2.

  14. This is not the best show, but i lvoed it though, i only would have erased the guitar parts, i don't like madonna maiden, she performs almost like iggy pop in ireland like support of her re-invention tour!! she was amazing, dancers, colour, performances, huge stage, were great.

  15. I don't get the fact that so many fans don't like this show. It was not M's best but not the worst either. I enjoyed the show very much. Not groundbreaking, but not worthy of dismissal at all. Is some of the bitching because it was a stadium tour? That I would agree with. It just becomes impersonal when there are 50,000 plus people to entertain rather than a 15-20000 arena show.

  16. Who's That Girl, girlie Show, Drowned World Tour... All FAR worse then S&S.

    Excellent show. Period.

  18. f course I am serious. Sorry.

  19. I would agree that the girlie show is worse than this.

That said, I think a lot of people like Madonna when she is at her most theatrical, and others like her when she's at her most energetic. This is why S&S inspires passion among fans: they are forced to confront a Madonna they haven't seen on tour since... well, some of us, ever. Drowned World, Reinvention and Confessions are all examples of performance art and theater, not so much ROCK CONCERTS.

S&S is a mess, and that's fun... to me at least. You can see her enjoying the show, even when you know (and she must know) the song selection is lackluster, the opening is awful, and the ending is a freaking disaster (I'm talking about Ray of Light and Hung Up, mostly, although Give it 2 me could've been better as well).

So I think S&S has plenty of redeeming qualities, including the fact that Beat Goes On, She's Not Me, and Devil are better than on the record, that Into the Groove, Vogue, and Like A Prayer are not only all played in the same tour, but are also amazing, and that Music sounds surprisingly fresh.

That said, Confessions is better, lol ;)

  20. I think S&S has some redeeming factors...her energy was a kind of energy we hadn't seen since the Blond Ambition tour, which was incredible at her age.

However, it seriously lacked in creativity, innovation, theatrical factor, and overall passion. So much of that tour came off as cheap and horribly stylized. Her choreography, despite her incredible energy, was literally aerobic moves anyone could do, absolutely no stylization to it whatsoever.

A colorful and energetic show...but lacking in the kind of WOW or awe-inspiring factor we are used to at a Madonna show...and it was an especially disappointing show after the wonderful Confessions tour (though I'm not a huge fan of that album, the Confessions tour was wonderful).

    Sigh.
