When Coachella was Blessed by Madonna

Ah, Coachella - 5 years ago. My first and last music festival with the only person that could get me there - MADONNA. It was hotter than shyt, we got there at 7 am to insure we were in the front - we ran like animals down to the tent - people were falling on their face, snow cones were flying in the air - it was horrible and wonderful all at the same time. Coachella and that indie nothing crowd had no idea what hit them. They have never been blessed by Madonna. Which is why everyone was so jaded when she announced she would be there.

At the last minute they had to figure out what they were going to do. They figured on wrist bands. We got them and we were the first 20 in line and we waited there all day in the scorching heat. It was fabulous, we were in the front and what I really remember is during Hung Up when she gets on the floor and starts crawling that she came toward the end of the stage and looked right at me with those Who's That Girl Eyes. Fantastic! When she was done, you couldn't get me out of there fast enough. Bring on Miss Ross, The Boss and her helicopter to charter me away!

At Coachella drenched in sun screen - EAT IT!

  1. I was there too!! I went with a fakey 'I like her old shit' Madonna 'fan.' who was not as maniacal about getting to front row like I did. Let's just say the friendship almost ended right there!

  3. I was there too. We got there around 4:00 am and Iggy (from Australia) was already there with his famous Australian flag. I will NEVER go back, ever. Only Madonna can make me go back,no one else. It was fucking hot,it was hell,i had an amazing time but after she was done i wanted to get out of there,i was literally dying.

  5. I was there and saw alot of other bands that day... yet still pushed my way to damn near the front and waited in that steam sauna of a tent her to come on 30 minutes late and play 5 songs max (other artists played at least hour-long sets all day). I was majorly disappointed.. sorry, but she was a diva... and there was a lot of eye rolling from my vantage point. she should have taken notes from Daft Punk who blew Coachella off the map the previous year with a mind-bending light show and remixed mash-up techno inferno. i love M but she has her highs and her lows... this was one of my biggest lows.

  6. First off, it was incredibly strange that Madonna was there. I mean, we're talking about Coachella. The festival is made for rock and indie bands, not Madonna. She's not the kind of artist these folks get excited about. I can understand Slide's disappointment with her limited appearance.

However...at the same time...it's fucking MADONNA ladies and gents. She would NEVER have appeared at Coachella in a million years, and here she is, in the flesh. Even if it's only for a small amount of time, it's an incredible experience nonetheless.

Daft Punk is an entity unto itself...they are the kind of band that this crowd is open to, and they cater to it. Madonna was sort of this incredible surprise dessert, and she should be appreciated as such.

    Great footage.
