Too Much

You're too much, Harold. - Vivian Pickles Harold and Maude

Madonna fans, what do you make of all this W.E. ? The reviews have been mixed. I guess it's all to be expected. It's Madonna. We've lived through it all before.

I have HEAPS to say but I think maybe the images and articles and your own thoughts and contributions would be far more interesting.

“A lot of people will loathe it, simply because it’s been made by Madonna. But if they were to watch it with no knowledge of who directed, they would be pleasantly surprised." - Baz Bamigboye

I got a kick out of this Guardian review. No mention of the actors and their performances. It wasn't a review of the film, it was a review of Madonna. All I could think of was if she was The Actress, we would just be hearing of her performance and nothing of the director, the script, the editing.

Here are some bizarre W.E. stories.

  1. I don't let reviews make up my mind on movies i'd rather go in with an open mind madonna movie or not. Of course I would prefer her to receive amazing reviews and vindicated her talent.
Madonna is the biggest star if not one of the biggest stars that has ever existed. Of course she's going to get massive media attention. It's the natural madonna media way. People will scrutinize her no matter what she does. Its been like that from the beginning. look at clooneys film thats getting shit reviews. do you hear about that? NO!
by the way its filmed and the costumes and music alone its already a winner in my book! lets face Madonna has taste and she's a perfectionist some the key ingredients to being a good director.
lets let all the media craze continue good or bad as its been a dry spell of madonna buzz. Im enjoying it and she looks flawless and love the 2011 glam W.E. press tour.
We should not judge until we see it ourselves.
I hope a lot of fan express their opinion on their post.

  2. I am going to see this one and maybe I'll like it, maybe I won't. I do give her a shit-load of credit for having the balls to be a director and I trust her to have done her homework in terms of research etc. I don't think she is a person who does something half-hartedly.
About the nazi-comments, that's just ridiculous. Anyway, I'm going to see it and hope I enjoy it. From what I've seen it looks gorgeous.

  3. The reviews are so confusing. One moment, it's spectacular. The next, it's a bomb. The next it's pretty darn good. The next, it's the shame of Venice.
