  1. love these early stories. she was damn certain of her future, as she told everyone - from this warner exec to camille barbone to debi mazar - the exact same thing... i'm gonna be a star

  2. MTV did not play black artists' videos, then, and probably never will happen. Album "Thriller," has become too big for it (No, actually your own) to avoid the great MJ videos. Show 'MTV Raps' and even rap video expurgated came after the public as well as Pat yourself and your music back to the creation of a "fashion".

  3. These commentaries are incredible to hear. It takes you back as we all forgot how hard Madonna worked and how determined she was and still is. BUT they don't make stars like that she was born with her drive and dedacation and did it all from nothing. It was not given to her like 99% of pop stars then and now.

    I just loved reading this!

    Thx

  5. I don't think she ever became BIGGER then kichael, but has stayed somewhat 'popular' throughout her entire career. Hell, her last album provided a top 3 single on the Hot 100.

  6. And its Michael who fired Demann. Not his father Joe, like the article said...

  7. Thank you, Michael! Demann was everything for Madonna. Perfect combo ='d Maverick

  9. Tony, Madonna is the 2nd most successful Hot100 artist ever, only behind the Beatles.
plus, Madonna took so many risks in her career, unlike jackson; he has some good songs, but all of them sound exactly the same.

  10. LOOOOOOOVE stories like this.

Man....she had balls, ha ha. To have that kind of attitude when trying to land a record deal is usually shooting yourself in the foot.

But, well, the stars aligned for her and then she made sure she rose to the very tops of the sky.
