Girls Gone Wild is Here!!!

Madonna's new VEVO channel released a lyric video today which previews Madonna's new song Girls Gone Wild from her upcoming MDNA album.

Digg'n! The room is spinning...

Here's the intro - picks up where Act of Contrition left off!

  1. i like it a LOT but it's not what i call a BOMB.
the spoken intro though is simply amazing!!
as for the new photo, i like it too but it's quite generic...i don't see any art in it..

    1. I'll probably get flamed but I agree the track is ok, its no surprise but then again we got the preview a while back so we knew what it was like. The image? I dont know what it's meant to be, I dont like the effect or filter they used her face looks like a generic Sex Advert in the back pages of a cheap newspaper, and the bra and the boa? yeah where is the Art alright.

    2. She really does look like Amanda Lear in this pic.

  2. The intro MAKES this song. Why was it taken out the lyric video is beyond me.

The way Good leads into the song has me dying. Just imagine this liveeeeee.

  4. I love it.

It's a great song. People will complain about everything. Jesus!

It's catchy. It's a dance floor hit. It's good old Madonna (no pun intended).

The single cover is sexy as hell. Madonna in a bra. The way a 53-year-old shouldn't do. But since when Madonna does what we think she should do? She never has. And never will. Which means, again, pure Madonna!

    Love it all.

The only thing I don't like about it (and that is just an assumption), is that the vocals on the verses are on the same spoken style as Give it 2 Me (they are not similar, the style is), which means, on the tour, she will be singing them along with pre-recorded vocals.

Aside from that: GREAT SONG! Great single cover.

    Love the lyrics too.

  5. This will be another great Madonna song that will not do well on the charts because of bad management. They have to send it to radio stations NOW and put it for sale.

Madonna is in LA, she has to go to Ellen Degeneres and sing this song. It won't do well on the charts without proper promotion and timing. Premiering a song on the web without putting it for sale is a huge mistake. I already have it on my iPod, with and without the introduction.

I won't be buying it when Guy Oseary/Interscope/Universal finally wake up and decide to sell it on iTunes. And who knows when it's going to happen? A week from now?

Bad management. Guy Oseary has too much on his plate when he should be focusing on Madonna alone.

  6. I totally agree. WTF is up with GUYO? She needs to promote, not just for her sales and singles ranking...but for her fans. I getthe feeling she just puts out music just for the sake of it now. It's $$$ thing not a creative process anymore. Hopefully I am wrong with I hear MDNA, but even this song lack the umph she needs to stand out in the industry today.

Even the image is not doing it for me...been there done that. Deeper and Deeper/Confessions mashup...whateves

Her's hoping there are more 'Masterpieces' on the album.

  10. I think people are stupid to think that Madonna cares about "making money from music" anymore. Nobody "makes money from music". Madonna's albums (at least the last 3) have all been about 1 thing and that is a blueprint for live performance. Look at Confessions on a Dancefloor. You seriously cannot tell me that Madonna and Stuart didn't sit in a studio KNOWING "Future Lovers" wasn't going to be the opener for her tour. The same thing with "Candy Shop". Bottom line is, Madonna is a performer that understands pop music, it's here today and gone tomorrow. That is why Gaga can be so VAPID... she takes POP MUSIC as Gospel and in the process takes herself WAY to seriously stripping herself of any fun or irony. God, we hold M back so much with our pop music nostalgia. After 30 years in the business I think it is kind of INSULTING to Madonna to tell her how to be a pop star.

    1. Uh as if that is a good as excuse to not promote ur shit

    2. But that's the point. The music, the videos are promotion. For the tour.

    3. Bitch it's not even grand promo for her fucking tour thats the point idiot

      Delete
    4. @alan Madonna did not become an icon by producing albums that were the blueprints for live shows. Madonna became an icon my making GROUNDBREAKING, REVOLUTIONARY AND THOUGHT PROVOKING MUSIC AND VISUALS, the money didn't even factor into the equation.

  11. notice the name change to GIRL gone wild, not GIRLS... smart move M, joe francis can't touch it! I like the song.. I mean at this point her music is tour fuel and I think this song will play well live.... it feels very Confessions on a Dancefloor to me.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I remember when she said she wished she wrote "Don't stop the music" and since ray of light we all wait for her to right music like nobody did before her again.
This GGW (Gaga Got Wet) is a very good tune, I love it, but I agree with those who think it's generic. We will dance to it, but it will never be a a song other artists copying, because it's the same some song like million others...
The photo is rather a photoshop painting by a child in love with older drag queens. I loather this picture.
Madonna is beautiful woman, they should use photos instead of these ugly paintings reminding of disastrous Luis Vuitton compaign.

    WORD!

I'm loving that she is revisiting her past while keeping it current! She is inspiring herself and I fucking love it! The opening intro sets a great tone for the cd and I hear the video is going to be very very good!

  14. BTW I think Madonna skipped the Oscar's because she is sick of playing the polite game with America and Hollywood i.e. Super Bowl, radio friendly song, all american non offensive video, All the tv press for W.E., the red carpet's etc. She is ready to stick it to everyone! Watch out! Her next video is going to be pure Madonna. best in a long time and I love the GMAYL single and video! Get ready for a Girl Gone Wild literally!

  25. I think it's a good song. The cover is HOT. I just keep thinking about what Lola thinks about her mom in a bra on a single cover. Hmmm... I have a feeling Lola's got more rebelling up her sleeve than just shaving her head a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't think she should be singing songs that Britney or Rhianna should sing :(

    Luvin is better for me.

  27. Loooooooooooooooooooove it, much better than the first single!!! This will be great!!! Listenning for the 3rd time and loving it!!! It has a confessions feeling as well!

  28. The best thing about this is the cover. The bra should be a little lower so as to reveal her nipples.

  29. The Queen is BRINGING IT with this album, musically and visually. This will be BRILLIANT in a club and on tour. She looks superfly in the artwork. GMAYL was her most gorgeous and funniest video in years, can't wait for the Mert&Marcus vid for this. SMOKIN'! x

  30. Oh Jesus! Why does she have to be this commercial? There's no difference between this shit and Gaga, Rhianna, Britney or any other shit singer that plays in every radio or video station! I miss the period when Madonna had reasonable good taste but now it's over. I'm truly sad! :(

  33. Expect this one to go straight to the top! I am mighty glad Madonna has that little fire inside of her. In Girl Gone Wild, Madonna is full of a passionate flame in her heart! The song is wonderful. Expect this song to become a True Madonna Anthem!
Lady Madge is that Girl Gone Wild because she has made the world a better and happier place!

  34. fourth time listening now. i'm mixed. this is my stream of consciousness as the song rolls on...

    beat sounds generic, but good.

her voice is not coming through strong - this bugs me.

she's latched onto trends before and not necessarily ahead of others so how much can we hold this blatant trend-hopping against her?

lyrics are inane. or maybe it's the delivery.

'music' had simple lyrics too but it was just damn cooler.

commercial radio listeners will enjoy this.

i can't hear madonna the woman of a certain life experience in the lyrics. who wrote this and where is her touch? or was it done in post with the added intro, which is really cool and much more her soul coming through?

what would 90s/early 2000s madonna think of this song?

what would other madonna fans think about this song if some other singer released it?

    ReplyDelete
  35. What the song proves is that Confessions set the tone and trend for everything commercially relevant to come by every other mainstream pop artist. Nothing has changed sonically in seven years aside from slightly crisper production techniques. Madonna owns this song and this sound. As always, her younger and more casual, fickle fans will insist that she is somehow copying Rihanna and Britney, but come to your senses please and realize that everything these pop bitches do is derivative of Madonna. This couldn't be more quintessentially Madonna, and I'm now understanding that the album title implies that every song is going to be in some way an extension of Madonna's musical DNA. She is fantastic.

    1. the trend-setters of dance/synth pop predate madonna even, but i realise what you're saying. i also think there is a finer difference between the stylings of stuart price versus your david guettas of now.

i would say the production of this song and what is 'hot' on the charts at the moment is more of a result of the 'kanye affect' than anything else in recent years. with his 808s and heartbreak record he reinvigorated the auto-tune and synth in the US and paved the way for other artists within the hip-hop community to explore it - which makes up the bulk of who is popularising this style right now. then you have your guettas who had strong collaborations with other black artists. i think those are more specific references.

confessions was phenomenal but is it single-handedly responsible for the current wave of dance on the US and worldwide charts? i'm not certain. i've been a fan for 25 years and this is not quintessentially madonna to me. well not the evolved, post-80s madonna.

    2. excuse me - 20 years.

    3. Madonna has never been a trendsetter.

She does pop music. Nothing is original.

    7. Justify what? Born This Way is an all around AWFUL song. It is unlistenable. There is no melody, the chorus sucks, the vocals are wack, etc.

Now Bad Romance, Paparazzi, 'Poker Face', 'Dancer in the Dark, 'Monster. All great songs. The new album? All shit.

  36. "every song is going to be in some way an extension of Madonna's musical DNA. She is fantastic."

I'm starting to believe this too... None of these three songs sound alike AT ALL. And B-day song doesn't sound like these three either. Nor does Turn Up The Radio.

So yep, i think we're onto something...

  37. I like it, don't LOVE it. But, I can't get it out of my head!

    ReplyDelete
  38. evrybdygegeget you managed to take my thoughts and articulate them in a way I probably could not. LOVE IT. And I 100% agree.

I enjoy the song but beyond that it does little for me, much like GMAYL. I hope the video to this is as good as GMAYL though I hope it holds a little more substance.

I get that she is wanting to do fun. But you can do fun and still hold the integrity of the artist you were seven years ago. Fun doesn't mean you have to follow trends or sound a little too generic. That is what comes off with this record, for me atleast.

I'll use examples from just the previous decade to keep this relevant, but look at her more upbeat tracks from Music on onward. Look at Music, Get Together, Celebration, Impressive Instant, and even The Beat Goes On. All fun, but with a Madonna style, articulation and expression only she could pull off. GGW sounds like it could have been sung by anyone. Madonna sounds almost bored.

I hope most of the other tracks are more introspective. I really hope there are half or more William Orbit tracks this time around if this is what the other producers are getting out of her (if Masterpiece is any indicator.)

    1. The prayer intro is very good. "I dread the loss of heaven." So beautiful and I like the echo FX.

  43. Banal, vapid, vacuous and all been done before. The irony being that she has produced the most reductive song of HER career, ripping off Act of C and Celebration, neither song worth ripping off!
Confessions proved pop could be beautiful, intelligent and successful. This is rushed out, music by numbers from an artist still trying to prove her relevance but proving her irrelevance instead. I for one am gutted...

      What a thought.

      Again: LOL!

Ray of Light was done when electronic music was huge, Bedtime Stories was done when R&B was huge, now she goes and does an album that full of songs that feature 'current' production and people are 'gutted', 'turned off', 'shocked'.

Well, I've got news for you: Feel free to leave the current Madonna to those who actually enjoy her and STOP RAINING ON OUR FUCKING PARADE!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Thanks! :)

    2. And since when the fuck has pop music been original? Madonna has NEVER been original as POP has never been original.

      o_O

      Delete
    3. Tony I get what your saying, but I also agree with most of what howiet1971 is saying as well. Its just personal opinion dont look at it like we're trying to rain you your Parade. For those that love and embrace it, fantastic! I dont think anyone here is telling anyone else not to.

Despite my personal reservations on what has been released so far and what it seems to be shaping in to, I dont want it to flop I hope she has success with it. I just personally am not moved by what we've heard so far musically - Ill reserve my full judgement when it comes out, still have my fingers crossed for the Orbit tracks.

I personally have never been in to Martin Solveig's work (or the alike), which is partially why I have an adverse reaction to the songs revealed so far. They do lack depth, now some wont give a fuck and appreciate for what it is, but for others we were just hoping for a little more from an artist near 30 years in the business.......but you know that's just the way it goes with Madonna fans, our diversity and wants point out how wide her fanbase actually is.

      Delete
    4. I kinda like, 'Hello', but fortunately, 'GMAYL' sounds NOTHING like any of the other Solveig tracks I have heard. It sounds nothing like, 'Hello' or, 'Big in Japan'.

It also sounds like nothing else on the radio. I don;t hear many 60's beach sounding guitar driven pop songs on the radio, but hey, maybe it's just where I live.

      Delete
    5. @ tony - 'now she goes and does an album that full of songs that feature 'current' production and people are 'gutted', 'turned off', 'shocked'.'

well maybe it all comes down to the fact the song is weak. if it was a good, solid song in the opinion of those who don't love it then perhaps everything would be excusable, including the tarty cover photo (what is that bra?) and the trendhopping.

it's just not believable. i don't believe she has her finger on the pulse. i don't believe she cares so much. i don't believe this is her frame of mind and soul in those lyrics. i don't believe her. this is the problem.

      Delete
    6. Okay, great.

Time for you to move on, then.

Go over to a Gaga board? Leave us alone.

  44. i hope madonna to do a proper promo for this song.
she really needs to be back on the charts and stay there for a long time and not only for a week; not because she has to prove she's still relevant (she doesn't have to prove anything to anyone), but just because she DESERVES it!
as for anyone who says she's a performer and she makes music only for her shows, that's bullshit for me. every single artist in the world wants his/her songs to be on charts and have success.
and even if you are madonna, the biggest pop artist ever, the most successful female artist ever, the one and only queen of pop, you HAVE to promote your music properly.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Give Me All Your Luvin' went to #10 and dropped to #39 the very next week. Her last three albums had a top 10 lead single and a second single that reached #37 or lower. I imagine Girl Gone Wild will debut at #40 and drop to #99 the following week. Promotion will not help this song [or album]. Her tour is the money maker. That's where the impressive numbers are.

  47. Doesn't do much for me either. I bet it will sound good in a club and be dance worthy but she hasn't paired an image with it like in previous promotions. 55. Many people are referred to billboard's hot100 or BB200 when it comes to the success of a single or an album.

To those people i want to say that USA is not the world. USA is not even America. America is a continent.

And we all know that USA radio stations have almost banned Madonna after the American Life album.

It's not a coincidence that her albums do so well in BB200 unlike her singles and that her USA shows are sold out immediately, or her singles reach the #1 of the Dance club/Play chart.

That means that USA people love Madonna, unlike radio stations.
