Madonna's Fabulous Personal Style

06.21.11

10.23.09

Known for scissors since the gate - Madonna takes her Rick Owens pants and cuts the shyt out of them making them even more fabulous - as we saw yesterday in the airport shots. Well, I also love them with her Hard Candy Promo bustier underneath that cool sweater, too - leaving the Kabbalah Center in 2009.

EAT IT!!!

Dazed & Confused: An Issue of ReInvention

Dazed & Confused is so amazing - such a great publicity piece Madonna did for her brilliant Hard Candy album. There's a lot more that we could have seen but the ONLY thing truly missing from this magazine is the Keith Haring/Vivienne Westwood Witches Collection Devil Skirt!!! Would love to have seen that photographed porperly as these others were. Can't wait for the show that Madonna has been wanting to put together of her clothes for a museum exhibition.

Fever

In 1993, Madonna released Bad Girl/Fever - her third singles from the Erotica album. She sang both songs on Saturday Night Live on January 16, 1993. As far as the singles and videos were concerned, America got Bad Girl and everyone else got Fever*. The latter was directed by Stephane Sednaoui, who we had known for photographing Madonna on the set of her Justify My Love video in 1990.

It took me awhile to love the video for Fever. I was so impressed with Erotica, Deeper and Deeper and Bad Girl that at the time I thought Fever was a downgrade - it seemed a little out of place - now it seems perfect as one of the videos from the Erotica album. I got hooked on it after seeing it at a nightclub on a wall of tv screens. Prior to Fever, Sednaoui had directed Ziggy Marley in Kozmik (1991), The Red Hot Chili Peppers in Give It Away (1991) and Breaking the Girl (1992). He then became a household name for video directors among the MTV generation in America for directing The Smashing Pumpkin's Today and Bjork's Big Time Sensuality in late 1993.

W Magazine March 2002 - Volume 31 Issue 3 - Desperately Seeking the 80's Punk Scene ala Madonna?

Back in 2002, W magazine was predicting a Madonna 80's renaissance. I've had this magazine since 2002 and now that we're seeing it come into full fruition, I thought it was an appropriate time to post this. I thought it would be nice to include Into the Groove with it. It's all been wanna-be's ever since.
