Fantastic Patrick Demarchelier Shots!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wish I had these in better quality for you guys but this is what we got!!!
Cheek Freaks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm so tired of hearing from Madonna 'Fans' about her cheeks. She looks gorgeous and fresh! She's always had that tiny dancer frame and coupled with all the years of working out, the woman probably has zero percent body fat. In the pictures above the photo taken at the Berlin Film Festival, I know that she looked great in person but anyone that has dabbled in photography knows, the camera is not kind to any imperfections, character or lines.

Since her star was born, people have combed over Madonna with a microscope searching for anything to tear her apart because they can't take it.

Madonna is and always has been a visual artist. I'm glad she did whatever it is that she did. She looks beyond fantastic and it just means we have many more years of Madonna doing her thing. As a longtime fan of hers, I would take her anyway she wanted to deliver - facial plumping or not. Shes still sockn' it and will continue to do so.

People better be happy that we still have her - there will never be another one like her in our lifetime. End.

Gursky Photo of Madonna Show Could Fetch $2 Million

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sotheby's upcoming contemporary-art sale in London is getting a dose of celebrity wattage from post-Warholian pop icon Madonna, thanks to a personalized photograph by Andreas Gursky that is scheduled to go on the block Feb. 10. Titled Madonna I, the nine-foot-high photo is an aerial shot of the singer playing to a packed Los Angeles audience on Sept.13, 2001. Part of her Drowned World Tour, the emotionally-charged concert had originally been scheduled for September 11, but was called off in the wake of the World Trade Center attacks. In the photo, Madonna has an American flag tied around her waist.
Gursky, the coveted artist known for his outsize, minutely detailed photographs, gave the photograph to Madonna — an art collector who owns more than 300 paintings by artists from Picasso and Man Ray to Damien Hirst — and inscribed a dedication to her on the back. Sotheby's estimates that the photograph could fetch as much as $2.1 million at auction. Madonna, however, is not the seller. According to the sale's catalogue, she parted with the piece in 2005, either cashing it in or giving it away, leading some to surmise the photo has been consigned by her ex-husband, Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie.
Madonna Hits Heathrow Today
Light, Love, Leni Riefenstahl and Madonna.
Light and Shadow.
Von Sternberg and Dietrich.
Photographers and Madonna.
Riefenstahl and Life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Leni Riefenstahl, the woman filmmakers and mortals love to hate, was beyond compare. She lived a hundred and one years here on planet earth. When I was in film school in the early 90's, we saw Triumph of The Will in my Documentary class. I've never been the same. I had to know more about this woman who created this piece of art still being copied, studied, spoken about and feared among many. A dangerous film by a dangerous woman? Too simple. I would also like to state here that I feel it is not a propaganda film. For me, that statement is comparable to when the common folk calls Madonna a 'good business woman'. It's demeaning and takes away from the truth of the artistic soul of these two legendary extraordinary women. This type is extremely rare.

Imagine my delight when I came across Ray Müller's buxom documentary, The Wonderful Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl in the mid-nineties. Fascinating. If you ever get the chance, do yourself a favor and examine it. A true legend, a true star and, above all, a true artist until her last breath.

Yes, I know and have listened to all the problems and debates. Hitler, the Third Reich, Goebbels, Nazis. One thing always gets dwarfed - she was an artist of the highest calibre. It's kind of like when the dingles (sorry Sean - you should understand my position frolicking with the likes of Castro and Chavez) wanted to ostracize Elia Kazan at the 1999 Academy Awards for his lifetime achievement award. Everyone studied Kazan and then wanted to get all PC and turn their backs on him when he was being honored for his tremendous work? Nein.

Anyway, I'm losing my thought and getting all fired up. There are clear parallels between Leni Riefenstahl and Madonna. Both started as dancers and eventually ended up in their prospective worlds of motion picture and music. Both are loved and loathed. Both are unstoppable. Both are Leos. Both are brilliant. I use the present tense here because Leni still evokes these feelings within people long after her death.

It was reported by Kurt Loder on MTV around 1996 that Madonna was interested in playing her life story. Then it moved over to Jodie Foster. We have yet to have a movie about Riefenstahl's life and I do hope Madonna will be playing it. That would be the film to earn Madonna the Academy Award.

Well, here we are (Dorothy Parker - look it up) and every time I get possessed again by someone I feel for (Agnes Moorehead, Gena Rowlands, etc.) I purge.

This is my playground and here all roads lead to Madonna.

I'm Gonna Blow You Another Kiss in the Wind

The 'Like a Virgin' 45.

In April 1984, Madonna said on MTV that she had completed a new album. Plus, in Rolling Stone, they said, 'Borderline' vocalist Madonna has a second album, Like a Virgin, ready for release, but what's the rush? After more than forty weeks, the first album from the ex-Alvin Ailey dancer is still climbing the charts.

Being 13, I was totally clueless on how records were released. In America, it was every Tuesday, which I found out the hard way. I went to my local record store, Tempo Records, on my skateboard everyday (with bleached out hair and red lips) asking, "Do you have the new Madonna album yet?" From April on... That poor dude - I drove him crazy. Haha!

Anyway, one day he set me straight () and told me that albums are released every Tuesday and they have nothing on the roster yet, leave my phone number and he will let me know.

The wait was horrendous but I'm not of the mortal school that waiting makes it better. I had my LIVE version taped off the radio simulcast from the first MTV Music Awards that I listened to on my walkman a hundred times a day since September. Hence, why that is still my favorite version.

Here it is, the real deal (with a new b side - Stay!!!) purchased on its release date: November 06, 1984.

Happy One Year Anniversary!!!

It's been a year since Pud Whacker's Madonna Scrapbook has been up and running and I've met so many great people from here. I've received wonderful emails from fantastic fans, photographers, wardrobe people, magazines, etc. So, I would just like to say thank you to everyone. It started with a Maripol Polaroid, so we will celebrate with her, too.

Long Live The Queen.

Madonna - "A Wonderful Actress" - David Rabe

Too may years have passed. Madonna needs to be back on the Silver Screen or The Stage. She's the only one that can get me to a movie house on Opening Day. Come Back to the Five and Dime, Madonna Ciccone, Madonna Ciccone...
