Madonna + Prince = Love Song.

My two favorite voices. Love everything about it.

  3. It's Crazy! I went back and listened to Like a Prayer this past week and walked away saying what a great album it was- the crazy thing I always take out of Like a Prayer is the completely diverse - different sound of "Love Song" ...looking back on it now, I love the way she has used the "Time goes by so slowly for those who wait" ...in "Hung Up" and "The Beat Goes On" and in "Get Stupid" ... An amazing era. I keep thinking Oh THIS when Madonna had reached her peek... then I started listening to "I'm Breathless" which followed this era and said, No - "Vogue" and the Blond Ambition tour is when she had skyrocketed into Elvis Status... Crazy...cause soon after came SEX. Again, another pinnacle point in her carrier....

  4. ...and might I add... Whenever I hear "Love Song" the song 2nd in diverse sound is "Till death do us part..." I am still waiting for Dub to do a remix of this with the vase breaking over an over an over... The best part of this song is her last line and the title of the song: TILL DEATH DO US PART. She is just amazing! An Pud, YOUR AMAZING for bringing me back constantly!!!

  6. I never really cared for this song, it sounds dull. Which was disappointing since Prince is such a genius.
    @ Slide: I didn't know there was a Prince-version of LAP!?!?!?!

  7. raga - xoxoox

    no slide, i havent.

sivan - interesting, when ive had madonna wish lists of who i wanted her to work with - usually the collaboration falls short because my expectation is so high.

they delivered here for it was sparse, cool and experimental - it wasnt some big bombastic meeting of two very bombastic entertainers. and thats why i think it worked 'for me'. love her keyboard bits and also love that they traded vocal parts. i was also happy see prince stripped of most of his production style he was doing during that time. i think we can thank madonna for that. we just have their sexy voices and theyre so complimentary on this track.

i was and still am extremely pleased with collaboration. wouldnt want a vanity 6 song from madonna or a manic monday. as much as I LOVE VANITY - even today!!! PRAISE JESUS!!! xo

  8. I went MAD the first time I listened to this song, way after COADF had been released (call me outdated!), and then I discovered one of my favorite songs, Hung Up, traced back to this one! It's insanely awesome the way she connects everything so fluidly!

    Her music really is atemporal!

  9. Should I have said "I went MADGE"?

    Yeah, I'm that goofball!

  10. Mmmm.
This was the stand out track for me when I was a teenager listening to the LP for the 1st time - my friends and me would sing duets of this track together, loving every second of the sassy attitude of it.
I have never understood why it has ever recieved negative attention. I love the sexy french, the sexy discord in the harmonies, the lyricism.
Yes, it's sparse, but we're dealing with the 2 greatest, most iconic voices of the most charismatic personae in 80s culture. These legendary voices need to be appreciated together in minimal production.
I never tire of hearing Love Song. In fact it is my favourite pop song of all time and the song I most want to see M & P do live - together obviously. My god, then .... I could die happy.

  11. In the french edition of Rolling Stone magazine, director Jean-Baptiste Mondino revealed that the song was to be released as a single and he was approached to direct it "the idea was to only show their skin" (citing) but then warner vetoed the idea because they wanted Prince to focus on the batman soundtrack promo only.

  12. Pud I do understand what you're saying.
For me, it didn't need to be bombastic or anything, just a little more thought through, to me it sounds like a demo in the early stages. But isn't this just the cool thing about music, the difference in appeal to different people for different reasons. :-)
Love love love the LAP album though,my personal favorite being Oh Father .. just brrrrrrilliant. x

Did you know M's duet with Prince is truly All About Eve?

  19. I kinda like the song, but I expected a lot more from Prince and Madonna. They didn't even record the song together in a studio. I was a huge Prince fan in the 80's (still adore him) and Madonna was everything, so the song just fell flat to me.
