You Must Love Her
...and one day you will kiss her ass like blithering fools.
5 months after giving birth to her first born child, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, Madonna appeared on the Academy Awards to perform You Must Love Me from Evita in 1997. The song, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, was nominated (and won), her performance in the film was not.
Madonna's brilliant performance as Eva Peron in Evita should have been nominated for Best Actress, as it would have been had it been any other actress portraying her. As with her original penned songs, The Academy refuses to give a nod to Madonna and like the majority of the public, including some fans, they reject any other Madonna than her original role as the dirty pop slut.
For some odd reason, the public is only comfortable with categorizing Madonna as The (Still) Desperately Sought Susan. Unfortunate for all of them. And since that is the case 27 years later, they should have awarded that performance with Best Actress.

Cuidado Con Mi Corazón
This song is marvelous. The duet Be Careful by Ricky Martin and Madonna was recorded in 1999 and appeared on Martin's Ricky Martin album. The song was written and produced by Madonna and William Orbit.

@guyoseary : Super 8 footage shot by Fabien Baron. Madonna in Miami 1992.
Remember in 2009, when art director Fabien Baron spoke a career spanning retrospective coffee table book featuring Madonna from the beginning of her career until present with the works of everyone from Herb Ritts, Steven Meisel and more? What happened? What better time to release a photography book of the Queen of Pop Life than now?!

Nicki Minaj on Madonna
On Madonna’s influence: “Meeting Madonna changed my life. Working with Madonna changed my life. Rehearsing with Madonna for two weeks changed my life. When you look at these amazing women, you have to realize that a lot of work goes into this. I, for the first time, refused to go to any parties. This performance was it and this is the first performance that I’m proud of in my entire career. I saw how much Madonna sacrificed and how much she rehearses and rehearses and rehearses and rehearses, and everyone there was like, ‘We got it.’ But she was like, ‘No, I want you to know this choreography in your sleep.’ We did know it in our sleep by the time we got on the Super Bowl stage. But when I saw that, it inspired me so much, the same way Wayne inspired me to start really becoming a beast as a rapper. The Madonna situation inspired me to give it my all and put that work in.”
On how Madonna got her to change her wig: “Madonna was the first person in history who was able to make me change my wig. I had some choices in terms of color and she was like, ‘Nicki…’ She has a way with words. She’s a monster, but when she’s speaking to an artist, she’s really sweet and she knows how to word things so you don’t feel uncomfortable. She was like, ‘I don’t know about it.’ So I really went through four color changes on my wig for the Super Bowl. We got the platinum blonde and she smiled. Once she smiled, I was like, ‘Thank you Jesus.’ I couldn’t take it anymore. She was one of the only people who could get me to wear red lipstick and when I did it, I ended up loving it, so I told her, ‘I’m so glad I trusted you. You’re amazing, you’re the queen, and everybody has to bow down.’”
On M.I.A.’s Super Bowl stunt: “My first feeling was disappointment, only because of my respect for Madonna. I’m a cuckoo lady too, but I would never be able to do it off the strength of Madonna. There are fines that go into these things, and I just thought, ‘Oh my God. I hope they don’t penalize Madonna.’ Madonna knows the artist that M.I.A. is and it was her decision to take the risk with all of us. We were kinda all firecrackers and she took that risk. She’s done some crazy things becoming the icon that she is, so I think that’s why she was able to forgive M.I.A. I love M.I.A. and I don’t want to say anything that is the wrong thing, but me personally, I couldn’t see myself doing it, just for the respect for Madonna. I wouldn’t want any backlash to come back on Madonna.”

Ageism and Madonna saying Fuck You. The Right Way.
Madonna at 34
Twenty years ago when she was 34 years old, Madonna was asked a question by Jonathan Ross, she answered that question and has forged forward remaining sexy and maintaining the exact level of fame and public interest she had when she arrived on the scene. We've seen a lot come and go, put on the poundage and lose their creativity and gifts altogether. Not Madonna. And that is what pisses people off.
She has no contemporary, living or dead. No one has compared to the magnitude of what Madonna has done and is doing. As Madonna has done many times in the past, she's the one breaking the barriers, will take all the slack, the heat, the negative press because she's the pioneer writing the blue print that others will try to follow.
Jonathan Ross: Do you think perhaps that you will be someone who will challenge this kind of taboo of women losing their sexuality or not being seen as sexual animals as much when they get past their forties?
Madonna: Not only do we suffer from racism and sexism, but we also suffer from ageism. And that is that once you reach a certain age, you're not allowed to be adventurous, you're not allowed to be sexual and I think that's rather hideous.
I mean a lot of people have said, "Oh, that's so pathetic, I hope she's not still doing that in 10 years", I mean, Who Cares? What if I am? I mean, Is there a rule? What are you just supposed to DIE when you're 40? That's basically what everybody wants people to do. I think it's stupid. Put yourself out to pasture? Why? Life is long...I don't get it.

Later, we would see her sitting down in that robe and her cup of tea looking flawless.
